Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A frigate beached and under repair in a dockyard at Marseilles by Ange-Joseph-Antoine Roux was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2010. The price achieved of GBP 2,125.00 (€ 2,539.37) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,500.00 – 2,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ange-Joseph-Antoine Roux achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work An important series of twenty-two watercolours depicting various traditional craft operating in Mediterranean coastal waters and a fine view of the imposing entrance to the port of Marseilles, on eleven double sided sheets, bound into a red leather a in May 2005 with an auction result of GBP 18,000.00 (€

Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ange-Joseph-Antoine Roux erzielen.
