Auction result misses estimated price range
In December 2008 a collector was able to acquire the work Marilyn Monroe, Tobey Beach, 1949 by André de Dienes for USD 1,875.00 (€ 1,347.08). This price was achieved in the auction Icons of Glamour and Style: The Constantiner Collection at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by André de Dienes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Marilyn Monroe, Tobey Beach, 1949 in December 2008 with an auction result of USD 20,000.00 (€ 14,368.85).
