Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The wedding party by Mariano Alonso Pérez y Villagrosa was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2001, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 9,400.00 (€ 14,958.36). Other works by Mariano Alonso Pérez y Villagrosa have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in June 2004 by the work The entertainer at Les Halles, Paris at GBP 19,120.00 (€ 28,456.29).
