Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Aconitum or Monkshood by Alida Withoos was auctioned at Christies in New York in May 2015, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 1,500.00 – 2,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 1,375.00. Admittedly, works by Alida Withoos have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Tulips, chrysanthemums, honeysuckle, convolvulus and other flowers in October 2019 with an auction result of GBP 10,687.00 (€ 12,396.15).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Aconitum or Monkshood von Alida Withoos im Mai 2015 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 1.500,00 – 2.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für EUR 1.375,00 den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Alida Withoos auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Tulips, chrysanthemums, honeysuckle, convolvulus and other flowers im Oktober 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 10.687,00 (€ 12.396,15).
