In October 2019 Sothebys in New York held the auction European Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture, which included the work Ships By Moonlight by Alfred Wahlberg. The result of USD 6,000.00 (€ 5,378.75) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Alfred Wahlberg - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Torreby by Gullmarsfjorden, which sold at auction in December 2010 for SEK 125,000.00 (€ 13,932.85).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im Oktober 2019 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion European Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit Ships By Moonlight von Alfred Wahlberg zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 6.000,00 (€ 5.378,75) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 6.000,00 – 8.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Alfred Wahlberg mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Torreby by Gullmarsfjorden beobachtet, die im Dezember 2010 für SEK 125.000,00 (€ 13.932,85) versteigert wurde.
