The »bidding war« ended at USD 25,000.00 (€ 21,970.30), 67% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Alfred Stevens achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Symphonie en vert in July 2010 with an auction result of GBP 657,250.00 (€ 790,269.07).

Die Arbeit Belgian Les Papillons von Alfred Stevens wurde im Februar 2019 in der Auktion 19th Century European Art bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 25.000,00 (€ 21.970,30) und damit 67% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Alfred Stevens erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Symphonie en vert im Juli 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 657.250,00 (€ 790.269,07).
