Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A Yorkshire Hillside by Alfred Augustus Glendening was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in January 2016, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 3,500.00 (€ 3,231.17). Admittedly, works by Alfred Augustus Glendening have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Reed Cutter in June 2002 with an auction result of GBP 20,315.00 (€ 31,422.70).
