Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Spring by Alexander Calder was sold in the Post-War and Contemporary Art Evening Sale auction at Christies in New York in May 2016. Here, the upper estimate of USD 2,000,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 2,285,000.00 (€ 2,052,088.01). Admittedly, works by Alexander Calder have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Poisson volant (Flying Fish) in May 2014 with an auction result of USD 25,925,000.00 (€ 19,006,598.24).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Spring von Alexander Calder wurde im Mai 2016 in der Auktion Post-War and Contemporary Art Evening Sale bei Christies in New York versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 2.000.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 2.285.000,00 (€ 2.052.088,01) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Alexander Calder auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Poisson volant (Flying Fish) im Mai 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 25.925.000,00 (€ 19.006.598,24).
