Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Alex Webb could be acquired at Bonhams in New York in December this year for an unexpectedly low price. In the The Gift of Photographs auction, the work 'Istanbul' (On Board a Ferry at Dusk Near the Princess Islands) changed hands for USD 896.00 (€ 809.98) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Admittedly, works by Alex Webb have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Mexicans arrested while trying to cross the border to the United States, San Ysidro, California, 1979 in April 2017 with an auction result of USD 8,125.00 (€ 7,457.55).
