Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Sennaia Square, St Petersburg by Aleksandr Briullov was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 3,750.00 (€ 4,534.03). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Aleksandr Briullov - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Palazzo Farnese, which sold at auction in November 2013 for GBP 13,750.00 (€ 16,546.28).
