In May last year Bonhams in New York held the auction American Art, which included the work California, Carmel Coast 16 x 20 1/8 in. (40.6 x 51.1 cm.) by Aldro Thompson Hibbard. The »bidding war« ended at USD 8,287.50 (€ 7,722.95), 38% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Aldro Thompson Hibbard have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Country Store, Rawsonville in October 2000 with an auction result of USD 37,600.00 (€ 44,308.27).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 38 % übertroffen
Im Mai letzten Jahres führte Bonhams in New York die Auktion American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit California, Carmel Coast 16 x 20 1/8 in. (40.6 x 51.1 cm.) von Aldro Thompson Hibbard zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 8.287,50 (€ 7.722,95) und damit 38% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Aldro Thompson Hibbard auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Country Store, Rawsonville im Oktober 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 37.600,00 (€ 44.308,27).
