Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Albrecht Altdorfer achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in January 2019. In the Old Master Prints auction, the work Saint George killing the Dragon sold for USD 6,250.00 (€ 5,456.61) - well above the upper estimate of USD 3,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Albrecht Altdorfer - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Spies returning from the promised land (Joshua and Caleb), which sold at auction in January 2017 for USD 20,000.00 (€ 18,528.81).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Albrecht Altdorfer erzielte im Januar 2019 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Master Prints wurde die Arbeit Saint George killing the Dragon für USD 6.250,00 (€ 5.456,61) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 3.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Albrecht Altdorfer mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Spies returning from the promised land (Joshua and Caleb) beobachtet, die im Januar 2017 für USD 20.000,00 (€ 18.528,81) versteigert wurde.
