A top price for Affandi
In October 2016 Sothebys in Hong Kong held the auction Modern and Contemporary Asian Art Evening Sale, which included the work Borobudur And The Sun by Affandi. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 9,800,000.00 (€ 1,153,256.70), 44% above the upper estimate. With this result, Borobudur And The Sun is even the most expensive work of art by Affandi that we have observed at auctions so far.
