Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Two peasants smoking, drinking and reading at an inn by Adriaen van Ostade was auctioned at Christies in October 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 35,000.00 (€ 30,297.78) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Adriaen van Ostade achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work De Drinker: Three boors drinking and smoking in a spirit house in December 2002 with an auction result of GBP 1,051,650.00 (€ 1,614,335.41).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Two peasants smoking, drinking and reading at an inn von Adriaen van Ostade kam im Oktober 2021 bei Christies zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 35.000,00 (€ 30.297,78) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Adriaen van Ostade erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit De Drinker: Three boors drinking and smoking in a spirit house im Dezember 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.051.650,00 (€ 1.614.335,41).
