In December 2021 Christies in London held the auction Old Master Prints, which included the work The Spectacle Seller by Adriaen van Ostade. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 7,500.00 (€ 8,945.93), 50% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Adriaen van Ostade achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work De Drinker: Three boors drinking and smoking in a spirit house in December 2002 with an auction result of GBP 1,051,650.00 (€ 1,614,335.41).
