In December 2021 Christies in London held the auction Old Master Prints, which included the work The Fiddler and the Hurdy-Gurdy Boy by Adriaen van Ostade. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 8,125.00 (€ 9,691.42), 35% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Adriaen van Ostade achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work De Drinker: Three boors drinking and smoking in a spirit house in December 2002 with an auction result of GBP 1,051,650.00 (€ 1,614,335.41).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 35 % übertroffen
Im Dezember 2021 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master Prints durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Fiddler and the Hurdy-Gurdy Boy von Adriaen van Ostade zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 8.125,00 (€ 9.691,42) und damit 35% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Adriaen van Ostade erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit De Drinker: Three boors drinking and smoking in a spirit house im Dezember 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.051.650,00 (€ 1.614.335,41).
