In January 2012 a collector was able to acquire the work A Mother'S Embrace by Adolphe Jourdan for USD 16,250.00 (€ 12,449.25). This price was achieved in the auction Old Master & 19th Century European Art, Including Property from The Forbes Collection: The Panorama of Champigny at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00 set by the auction house. Despite this disappointing result, A Mother'S Embrace is the most expensive artwork by Adolphe Jourdan that we have observed at auction so far.
