Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Luise Neumann, in lace-bordered pale purple dress with ruffled bodice and spotted split sleeves, drop pearl pendant pinned at corsage, double strand pearl necklace, drop pearl earring, pink roses and foliage in her upswept brown hair by Adolf Theer was auctioned at Christies in London in June 2005. The price achieved of GBP 360.00 (€ 533.54) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 300.00 – 400.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Adolf Theer - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Jenny Lind (1820-1887), in white dress, crown of laurels in her curled light brown hair, which sold at auction in June 2005 for GBP 780.00 (€ 1,156.01).
