This artwork by Adam Silo achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in July 2010. In the Old Master and British Paintings Day Sale auction, the work A Dutch Man O'War And Other Sailing Vessels In Calm Waters sold for GBP 27,500.00 (€ 33,065.65) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 15,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Adam Silo; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Dutch Merchant Men, A Kaag And Other Sailing Vessels In Choppy Waters sold at auction in May 2009 with the realized price of EUR 36,750.00.
