Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Observatorio oriente (Eastern Observatory) by Abraham Cruzvillegas was auctioned at Phillips in New York in February 2018. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 16,250.00 (€ 13,307.67) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Abraham Cruzvillegas - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Objeto útil pero bonito, which sold at auction in November 2014 for USD 37,500.00 (€ 30,149.54).
