In September last year Bonhams in London held the auction Travel & Exploration, which included the work The Manse for the Scots Kirk St Andrews, Colombo by Abraham Christopher Gregory Suriarachi Amarasekara. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,020.00 (€ 1,160.86), 28% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Abraham Christopher Gregory Suriarachi Amarasekara have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of Tagore in November this year with an auction result of GBP 6,144.00 (€ 7,119.56).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 28 % übertroffen
Im September letzten Jahres führte Bonhams in London die Auktion Travel & Exploration durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Manse for the Scots Kirk St Andrews, Colombo von Abraham Christopher Gregory Suriarachi Amarasekara zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.020,00 (€ 1.160,86) und damit 28% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Abraham Christopher Gregory Suriarachi Amarasekara auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait of Tagore im November diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 6.144,00 (€ 7.119,56).
