About Kim Kluge
KIM KLUGE
Kim Kluge has been working as a freelance visual artist since completing her master's degree with Walter Dahn (Beuys). Born in Hanover, she moved to her new adopted home of Cologne/Bonn in 2000 due to the multicultural and creative climate. Kim Kluge works in multimedia. At the core of her work are abstract, structural questions and the combination of analogue and digital design possibilities as well as sociological aspects. Her artistic approaches claim a change in social perspective and transformation by visualising unusual ways of looking at things.
FELT AS A LINK FOR TRANSFORMATIONAL PROCESSES
I have been working with felt since the beginning of 2012. Felt wool is the first self-made garment in human history after animal fur. Our second skin that warms and protects us. Felt also stands for connection and social warmth. The fibres are firmly woven together using the needle technique, just like our human relationships. In the age of digital transformation, I create a counterpoint to our fast-moving times with my works, needle stitch by needle stitch on small and large formats. The needle is my brush. The finished picture is an object painting.
