Anja Sieber – Katja Grandpierre
Abstract Painting
Opening: Friday, May 03, 2024 - 6pm
Exhibition duration: May 04 - July 27, 2024
Abstraction is the supreme discipline in the visual arts. It is therefore a great
pleasure to present the work of Anja Sieber and Katja Grandpierre.
The approach of the artist Anja Sieber is interdisciplinary and innovative. With the help of intelligent technology, she explores organic, floral and landscape-like features of the digital in her works. Katja Grandpierre also devotes herself to abstract painting. While Sieber captures her surroundings with a 3D camera and uses this data as her source material, Grandpierre, in the tradition of the French Impressionists, perceives her surroundings with all her senses and brings them to the canvas.
Both artists share a delight in the interplay of color and form, which they condense into abstract pictorial worlds. The painter Katja Grandpierre only hints at space and object-like shapes in her paintings and gives free rein to interpretation. The white works are very restrained in their color spectrum, so the fine and nuanced layering of color and form only unfolds at second glance. Grandpierre is able to mix the cheerful with the uncanny, as in a "Symphonie Fantastique".
Anja Sieber is showing an exclusive selection of her latest digital works on fine art paper for the first time at Galerie Wolfstädter. In terms of color quality, pigment printing is in no way inferior to painting. Her macro- or micro-worlds offer no orientation; they can be viewed either from a bird's-eye or a frog's-eye perspective. The task of discovering the smaller in the smaller in the smaller is thus a puzzle. Sieber's abstract pictorial worlds invite us to immerse ourselves in a virtual world of color and form and become a part of it.
