Sold at the upper estimate price
In March 2013 Sothebys in New York held the auction Fine Classical Chinese Paintings, which included the work Poems In Cursive Script by Zhang Daqian. The auction ended at the price of USD 50,000.00 (€ 39,013.73), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Zhang Daqian achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Landscape after Wang Ximeng in April last year with an auction result of HKD 370,495,000.00 (€ 44,795,542.37).
