Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Zeng Fanzhi achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in London in May this year. In the REdiscovery Manfred Schoeni's Legacy auction, the work Class One Series No. 2 sold for HKD 4,131,500.00 (€ 495,206.07) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 2,000,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Zeng Fanzhi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Last Supper in October 2013 with an auction result of HKD 180,440,000.00 (€ 17,122,818.89).
