Auction result well in line with expectations
The work South African kinetic Sculpture (Bicycle Wheel) by William Kentridge was sold in the Modern & Contemporary African Art auction at Sothebys in London in October 2018. The price achieved of GBP 81,250.00 (€ 91,624.93) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 70,000.00 – 90,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Kentridge achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Procession in March 2013 with an auction result of USD 1,538,500.00 (€ 1,200,452.56).

Die Arbeit South African kinetic Sculpture (Bicycle Wheel) von William Kentridge wurde im Oktober 2018 in der Auktion Modern & Contemporary African Art bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 81.250,00 (€ 91.624,93) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 70.000,00 – 90.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Kentridge erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Procession im März 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.538.500,00 (€ 1.200.452,56).
