The work Winter Study by William Gear was sold in the Modern British and Irish Art auction at Bonhams in London in July 2021. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,167.50 (€ 2,541.84), 45% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Gear achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Summer afternoon in June 2015 with an auction result of GBP 20,000.00 (€ 28,199.75).

Die Arbeit Winter Study von William Gear wurde im Juli 2021 in der Auktion Modern British and Irish Art bei Bonhams in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 2.167,50 (€ 2.541,84) und damit 45% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Gear erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Summer afternoon im Juni 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 20.000,00 (€ 28.199,75).
