In December 2018 Christies in London held the auction Important Old Master Paintings from The Eric Albada Jelgersma Collection: Evening sale, which included the work A Merry Toper by Willem van Mieris. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 187,500.00 (€ 208,891.63), 25% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Willem van Mieris - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A trumpeter at a casement window with another figure holding an upturned wine glass, which sold at auction in December last year for GBP 390,900.00 (€ 441,288.03).

Im Dezember 2018 führte Christies in London die Auktion Important Old Master Paintings from The Eric Albada Jelgersma Collection: Evening sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Merry Toper von Willem van Mieris zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 187.500,00 (€ 208.891,63) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Willem van Mieris mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A trumpeter at a casement window with another figure holding an upturned wine glass beobachtet, die im Dezember letzten Jahres für GBP 390.900,00 (€ 441.288,03) versteigert wurde.
