Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work “Hvile på flugten til Ægypten” (Resting during the flight into Egypt) by Wilhelm Nicolai Marstrand was auctioned at Bruun Rasmussen in January 2024, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of DKK 8,000.00 – 10,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for DKK 5,500.00 (€ 4,806.85). Other works by Wilhelm Nicolai Marstrand have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in March this year by the work “Fra Venedig Aften” at DKK 70,000.00 (€ 9,393.86).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit “Hvile på flugten til Ægypten” (Resting during the flight into Egypt) von Wilhelm Nicolai Marstrand im Januar 2024 bei Bruun Rasmussen versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von DKK 8.000,00 – 10.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für DKK 5.500,00 (€ 4.806,85) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von Wilhelm Nicolai Marstrand wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im März diesen Jahres die Arbeit “Fra Venedig Aften” mit DKK 70.000,00 (€ 9.393,86).
