Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Eye Multiplied Through a Prism, c. 1950s by Weegee was sold in the A Century of Art: Photographs from The Gerald Fineberg Collection auction at Christies in London in October this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 2,016.00 (€ 1,907.65) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Weegee achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Weegee Portfolio in October 2019 with an auction result of USD 62,500.00 (€ 56,028.69).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Eye Multiplied Through a Prism, c. 1950s von Weegee wurde im Oktober diesen Jahres in der Auktion A Century of Art: Photographs from The Gerald Fineberg Collection bei Christies in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 2.016,00 (€ 1.907,65) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Weegee erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Weegee Portfolio im Oktober 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 62.500,00 (€ 56.028,69).
