Description
Two woodblock prints comprising:
- A husband and wife on the ledge of an open window, from the series Erotic Prints for the Twelve Months (Koshoku zue juniko), circa 1788, unsigned (by Shuncho)
Both horizontal oban:
25.6 x 38.6 cm. (10 ⅛ x 15 ¼ in.)
23.4 x 36.5 cm. (9 ¼ x 14 ⅜ in.)
Sylvia Lacan (1908-1993) and thence by descent to the present owner. Sylvia Lacan was married to the French intellectual Georges Bataille (1897-1962), then the psychoanalyst Jacques Lacan (1901-1981).
