In March 2008 Christies in London held the auction Nineteenth Century European Art, which included the work Venus at a forest pool by Thomas Couture. The auction ended at the price of GBP 1,500.00 (€ 1,884.37), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Couture achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Study For 'The Decadence Of The Romans' in January 2013 with an auction result of USD 182,500.00 (€ 134,349.23).
Zuschlag beim oberen Schätzpreis
Im März 2008 führte Christies in London die Auktion Nineteenth Century European Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Venus at a forest pool von Thomas Couture zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 1.500,00 (€ 1.884,37) entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Thomas Couture erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Study For 'The Decadence Of The Romans' im Januar 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 182.500,00 (€ 134.349,23).
