This artwork by Thomas Couture achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in March 2011. In the The Sunday Sale auction, the work Portrait of a girl, head and shoulders, ribbon in her hair with a yellow warp around her shoulders sold for GBP 4,375.00 (€ 4,950.29) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Couture achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Study For 'The Decadence Of The Romans' in January 2013 with an auction result of USD 182,500.00 (€ 134,349.23).
