Auction result well in line with expectations
The work French Damocles by Thomas Couture was sold in the 19th Century European Art including The Orientalist Sale auction at Sothebys in New York in April 2008. The price achieved of USD 46,000.00 (€ 29,547.79) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. Admittedly, works by Thomas Couture have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Study For 'The Decadence Of The Romans' in January 2013 with an auction result of USD 182,500.00 (€ 134,349.23).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit French Damocles von Thomas Couture wurde im April 2008 in der Auktion 19th Century European Art including The Orientalist Sale bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 46.000,00 (€ 29.547,79) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Thomas Couture auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Study For 'The Decadence Of The Romans' im Januar 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 182.500,00 (€ 134.349,23).
