Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2007 Christies in New York held the auction Maritime Art, which included the work An American brig outward bound from a Mediterranean port by Thomas Birch. The price achieved of USD 45,600.00 (€ 35,082.32) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. Admittedly, works by Thomas Birch have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Battery And Harbor, New York in December 2008 with an auction result of USD 482,500.00 (€ 346,648.47).
