Auction result well in line with expectations
In November last year Bonhams in London held the auction Modern and Contemporary Middle Eastern Art including Baghdadiyat Part IIIThe Finale, which included the work One Thousand and One Nights (Alf Laylah wa-Laylah) 29 x 22cm each by Shakir Hassan Al Said. The price achieved of GBP 25,500.00 (€ 29,548.68) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Admittedly, works by Shakir Hassan Al Said have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Hob Al-Watan Min Al Iman (Loving The Homeland Is Part Of Faith) in June 2021 with an auction result of GBP 175,250.00 (€ 204,211.81).
