Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Kitabat a'la jidar raqam (1) (Writings on the Wall number (1)) by Shakir Hassan Al Said was sold in the Modern & Contemporary Middle Eastern Art auction at Christies in Dubai in May this year. The price achieved of USD 88,200.00 (€ 82,785.81) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 70,000.00 – 100,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Shakir Hassan Al Said - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Hob Al-Watan Min Al Iman (Loving The Homeland Is Part Of Faith), which sold at auction in June 2021 for GBP 175,250.00 (€ 204,211.81).
