In March 2004 Christies in London held the auction British and Victorian including Scottish Paintings, which included the work The Adventures of Baron Munchausen by Robert Alexander Hillingford. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 10,157.50 (€ 15,204.85), 69% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Robert Alexander Hillingford - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The morning of Waterloo, which sold at auction in September this year for GBP 40,960.00 (€ 40,960.00).

Im März 2004 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Victorian including Scottish Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Adventures of Baron Munchausen von Robert Alexander Hillingford zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 10.157,50 (€ 15.204,85) und damit 69% über dem oberen Schätzpreis.
