Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Self-Portrait In A Cap: Laughing by Rembrandt van Rijn was sold in the Old Master Prints auction at Christies in London in December 2017. The price achieved of GBP 8,125.00 (€ 9,143.50) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 7,000.00 – 10,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Rembrandt van Rijn achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of a lady, aged 62, perhaps Aeltje Pietersdr. Uylenburgh, wife of Johannes Cornelisz. Sylvius, half-length, in black costume and a cap and collar in December 2000 with an auction result of GBP 19,803,750.00 (€ 31,547,196.55).
Uylenburgh, wife of Johannes Cornelisz. Sylvius, half-length, in black costume and a cap and collar im Dezember 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 19.803.750,00 (€ 31.547.196,55).
