Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Calligraphic Couplet by Pu Hua was worth HKD 112,500.00 (€ 11,866.31) to a buyer in December 2020. This price was achieved in the auction On Wings of Song: Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy from the Collection of Robert van Gulik at Christies in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 35,000.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Pu Hua achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Bamboo in October 2015 with an auction result of HKD 3,200,000.00 (€ 373,845.32).
