The »bidding war« ended at HKD 4,875,000.00 (€ 552,195.62), 39% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Peter Doig achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Swamped in November 2021 with an auction result of USD 39,862,500.00 (€ 35,317,179.06).

Die Arbeit White Canoe (version) von Peter Doig wurde im Dezember 2021 in der Auktion 20th/21st Century Art Evening Sale: Worlds In A Hand bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 4.875.000,00 (€ 552.195,62) und damit 39% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Peter Doig erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Swamped im November 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 39.862.500,00 (€ 35.317.179,06).
