This artwork by Peter Birmann achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in January 2005. In the Old Master and 19th Century Drawings auction, the work Lago Maggiore with Borromeo Island in the foreground; and Lago Maggiore with the Isola Bella, fishermen in the foreground sold for USD 14,400.00 (€ 11,035.33) - well above the upper estimate of USD 8,000.00. Admittedly, works by Peter Birmann have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work View of Basel and the Rhine Valley from the Quarry in Muttenz in April 2015 with an auction result of USD 50,000.00 (€ 44,794.84).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 80 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Peter Birmann erzielte im Januar 2005 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Master and 19th Century Drawings wurde die Arbeit Lago Maggiore with Borromeo Island in the foreground; and Lago Maggiore with the Isola Bella, fishermen in the foreground für USD 14.400,00 (€ 11.035,33) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 8.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Peter Birmann auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit View of Basel and the Rhine Valley from the Quarry in Muttenz im April 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 50.000,00 (€ 44.794,84).
