In May this year Bonhams in Paris held the auction American Art, which included the work Willie Was Different (Woman and Bird on Train) by Norman Rockwell. The »bidding war« ended at USD 23,040.00 (€ 21,625.68), 28% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Norman Rockwell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Saying Grace in December 2013 with an auction result of USD 46,085,000.00 (€ 33,445,823.35).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 28 % übertroffen
Im Mai diesen Jahres führte Bonhams in Paris die Auktion American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Willie Was Different (Woman and Bird on Train) von Norman Rockwell zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 23.040,00 (€ 21.625,68) und damit 28% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Norman Rockwell erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Saying Grace im Dezember 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 46.085.000,00 (€ 33.445.823,35).
