Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Red-Headed Finch (Amadina Erythrocephala) by Nicolas Robert was sold in the Old Master & Early British Drawings & Watercolors Including an Important Canadian Collection and a Distinguished Private Collection auction at Christies in New York in January 2013. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 12,500.00 (€ 9,202.00) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Nicolas Robert have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Quagga in January 2007 with an auction result of USD 84,000.00 (€ 64,625.33).
