Auction result well in line with expectations
In August last year Bonhams in London held the auction Modern & Contemporary African Art Online, which included the work Street by Night, 1979 (framed) by Monsengwo Kejwamfi. It changed hands for a price of GBP 956.25 (€ 1,106.55) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 700.00 – 1,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Monsengwo Kejwamfi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sans Titre - 1987 in December 2017 with an auction result of EUR 28,600.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im August letzten Jahres führte Bonhams in London die Auktion Modern & Contemporary African Art Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit Street by Night, 1979 (framed) von Monsengwo Kejwamfi zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 956,25 (€ 1.106,55) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 700,00 – 1.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Monsengwo Kejwamfi erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Sans Titre - 1987 im Dezember 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 28.600,00.
