Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In December 2009 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction European Noble and Private Collections, which included the work Sofocle e Melpone; Socrate e Filosofia; Calliope Omero by Michelangelo Maestri. Here, the upper estimate of EUR 8,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for EUR 8,750.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Michelangelo Maestri - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Personifications of eleven hours of the day and night, which sold at auction in April 2000 for GBP 16,450.00 (€ 28,161.73).
