In October 2008 Christies in London held the auction 20th Century British Art, which included the work Landscape near Ballykinlar, Co. Down by Maurice Wilks. The result of GBP 2,500.00 (€ 3,186.60) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 2,500.00 – 3,500.00. Admittedly, works by Maurice Wilks have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Turf Gatherer in March 2011 with an auction result of GBP 24,375.00 (€ 27,580.20).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im Oktober 2008 führte Christies in London die Auktion 20th Century British Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Landscape near Ballykinlar, Co. Down von Maurice Wilks zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 2.500,00 (€ 3.186,60) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 2.500,00 – 3.500,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Maurice Wilks auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Turf Gatherer im März 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 24.375,00 (€ 27.580,20).
