Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Untitled (Mother Teresa I) by Maqbool Fida Husain was sold in the Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art auction at Sothebys in London in October 2017. The price achieved of GBP 62,500.00 (€ 71,262.23) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 50,000.00 – 80,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Maqbool Fida Husain achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work without title in June 2015 with an auction result of GBP 1,082,500.00 (€ 1,526,311.41).
