Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Fer Rouge (Red-Hot Iron), 1966 by Man Ray was auctioned at Sothebys in Paris in November 2014. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 12,000.00 – 18,000.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 12,500.00 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Man Ray achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Le Violon d'Ingres, 1924 in May last year with an auction result of USD 12,412,500.00 (€ 11,566,955.55).
