This artwork by Louay Kayyali achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in London in March 2021. In the Middle Eastern Art Online Sale auction, the work Portrait of Jacqueline van den Brandeler (nee. Merrier) sold for GBP 37,750.00 (€ 44,346.53) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 20,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Louay Kayyali - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Cake (Kaak) Seller, which sold at auction in June 2020 for GBP 137,562.00 (€ 151,500.70).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 89 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Louay Kayyali erzielte im März 2021 bei Bonhams in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Middle Eastern Art Online Sale wurde die Arbeit Portrait of Jacqueline van den Brandeler (nee. Merrier) für GBP 37.750,00 (€ 44.346,53) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 20.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Louay Kayyali mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Cake (Kaak) Seller beobachtet, die im Juni 2020 für GBP 137.562,00 (€ 151.500,70) versteigert wurde.
